1st use it did not smoke, after an hour or more I opened it and changed out the soaked chips with dry chips and yet again no smoke.... I then lit the chips and put it back in and when clamping door shut the cheap rivets on clamp broke and yet again still no smoke. Taking it back Tuesday for refund.

I picked up one last night and it appears to be nice. It was well packed and ease to put together. Ran it through the recommended burn in for 3 hrs, It work Great.

Had the same problem regarding the smoke -- I put the smoking tray directly on the burner -- off of the rack, and it took about ten minutes for the smoke to start.

the trick to making it smoke is to get rid of the lid and light your chips your self friend of mine with an expensive smoker recommened this. I only do it that way now and it works great. love it have had it for a year now and I use it 3-4 days a week.makes fabulous food I love it.

I bought one this week. Set up was easy. Like the person above, I could not get the wood to smoke...I have several other smokers (so I am not new to smoking) and have never had this happen. I called the customer service department # on the manual, and they had no clue. I talked to the customer service manager and he told me I had to wait THREE HOURS before it starts to smoke..Well, that makes no sense at all! I told him that was unacceptable and that he needed to come up with something...He asked me to wait for a few days and he will get back with me...

  3. Easy to put together. Had the same issue with it not smoking at first. Changed out the soaked chips and it started smoking just fine after that. Meat tasted great when it was all said and done.

  5. Assembly took about 10 min. Plugged it in threw some dry pecan chips in and she is smokin'. Gets up to temp pretty quick. The door is mostly leaking the smoke instead of the vent but for $99 I'm thinking it's a pretty good deal.

Can I use an extention cord?

You basically have too. Its only like a 6ft cord max. Also it's made both my extensions cords I've used with it very hot, like don't leave it alone hot.

Picked one of these up last week and am very happy with it. Easy assembly and it seems like solid construction. Smoked a 7-8 pound pork shoulder on Sunday and it turned out great. Crank up the heat to high to get the chips smoking and then turn the temp down and add your meat. I fed the probe and wire for my digital thermometer through the hole in back so I wouldn't have to keep opening the door to check the meat temp.

  8. I can not get mine to smoke the chips. I think the chip pan needs to be touching the heating element.

  10. I have the same issue with no smoke. I put some tin foil folds under the element to get it to rich the wood box. I'll let you know this "hack" works.

  11. So I'm having the same issue of no real smoke. I read to bend enough tinfoil together to raise the element so that it touches the wood box. That seems to have helped. I also took the top off of the wood box. Temp has to be up to get the wood to start smoking then you can turn back down. Hope this helps

Great for the price. Didn't come with a parts breakdown nor instructions. The temperature control does not work well in the sun. Smoker is best used in the shade. Set at 225 on the door, chips in the bin, got good smoke for about 30-40 minutes.
